Individual Membership
Individual membership is open to anyone with an interest in libraries in the Commonwealth of Virginia, including professionals, professional associates, trustees, friends, students, volunteers, those seeking employment and vendors. A special category is also provided for Affiliates to join VLA.
The VLA membership year runs January 1 - December 31. As per the VLA Manual, memberships are not pro-rated.
Students have the option of becoming an individual member VLA or a joint member of VLA and the American Library Association. Learn more about the Joint ALA/VLA Membership Program.
2024 Membership Rates (no increase since 2021):
Students: $15.00
Friends, Trustees, Retiree & Salary to $13,500: $25.00
Salary $13,501 – $19,999: $35.00
Salary $20,000 – $29,999: $55.00
Salary $30,000 – $39,999: $70.00
Salary $40,000 – $49,999: $80.00
Salary $50,000 – $59,999: $90.00
Salary $60,000 – $69,999: $100.00
Salary $70,000 – $79,000: $110.00
Salary $80,000 - $89,000: $120.00
Salary $90,000 – $99,000: $130.00
Salary $100,000 – $109,000: $140.00
Salary $110,000 – $119,000: $150.00
Salary $120,000 & Up: $160.00
