VLA is following the lead of several other library associations (Connecticut, Michigan and Ohio, to name a few) that have launched a partnership with Amazon Business. This program will be launched on April 10 immediately following this webinar, and will offer deeper discounts than current Amazon business accounts.

We know a switch over raises a lot of questions, so we hope you will join us on April 10 (register for the webinar, below) and be sure to ask your questions in the space provided. This webinar will be recorded and shared with people who are unable to attend.

Short FAQ:

Q: What does VLA get out of this?

A: As per our contract with Amazon: if the total spend of all libraries in VA exceeds $500,000 in the first year, VLA receives a 1% rebate. This additional funding will be used to offset VLA expenses; our intention is to use this money to prevent cost increases to membership.

Q: What if I already have an Amazon business account?

A: That’s great news! You will opt in to this program, and Amazon will make the switch behind the scenes. Everything stays the same: your email address, your password, your account history. You’ll probably notice that popular items are now less expensive (see some examples below.)

Q: What if I just paid to renew my Amazon business account?

A: Amazon will give you a prorated rebate for this year.

Q: Will VLA have access to any of my information or purchases?

A: NO. No. No. That information is between you and Amazon. We don’t want to know.

Q: Are library Friends/Foundation groups eligible to join under our library account?

A: Yes, anyone related to your library that you would like to extend this benefit to can join.

Q: Does my library have to be an Affiliate Member of VLA to participate? Or does anyone at my library have to be an Individual member for my library to participate?

A: No

Q: We have an account but are only allowed 3 emails to be used at any one time. Does this program limit the number of people who can make purchases?

A: Each library is limited to 100 accounts. If you’ve been struggling with only having 1 or 3 or 10 accounts, this program lifts that limitation.
