Library Services Coordinator

New River Community College (NRCC) is a comprehensive community college located in the New River Valley of Virginia. New River Community College is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Library Services Coordinator. The coordinator is an administrative faculty position reporting to the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services. The coordinator plans, coordinates, and oversees the daily operations of the library. The position is responsible for managing and providing public services, including circulation, reference, bibliographic instruction, event planning, and implementation of library policy and procedures. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing library services to support the diverse academic needs of our students and faculty.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Library and Information Systems, or related field from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
  • Substantial knowledge of academic library operations/management, current trends and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of library reference materials, including electronic resources.
  • Independent decision-making skills related to effectiveness of the library processes.
  • Experience with recruiting, selecting, evaluating, mentoring, and supervising library staff.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with all college constituencies.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Energetic leadership with high ethical standards and a commitment to excellence and integrity.
