Advancing Search Advocacy: Strategies for Equitable and Inclusive Library Hiring Practices

Session Description:
Looking to improve equitable hiring practices but not sure where to start? This panel discussion session will provide an overview of search advocacy programs and practices aimed at promoting equitable and inclusive practices within academic libraries. Presenters will explore both formal mechanisms, such as institutional committees and training programs, as well as informal approaches for integrating these principles into existing workflows and organizational culture. A panel of librarians from diverse institutions will share their experiences navigating this process, highlighting challenges and successful strategies. Participants will leave with practical ideas to implement regardless of institution type or level of administrative support.

When: Thursday, July 11th from 11am - 12noon via Zoom.  Registration is free, but kindly register in advance for the event.

Presenters:
Nina Exner, Virginia Commonwealth University
