Regina Carter, VLA 2nd Vice President

What is your current position and employer?

I serve as a research librarian for the United States Army.

 

When did you first know that you wanted to work in the library field?

What is your favorite part of librarianship?

My favorite parts of librarianship are people, outreach, and life-long learning.

 

What was your first library or library-related job?

My first library-related job was through the LIS Access Midwest Program (LAMP) internship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Undergraduate Library.

 

What issue or topic in librarianship are you most interested in?

I am immensely interested in and committed to enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within LIS.

 

Why are you a member of VLA and what is the most important reason to you for being a member of VLA?

I am a VLA member because I believe in supporting LIS professionals at every level and working toward creating a truly inclusive profession.
