POSITION:  ECDC (Early Childhood Development Commission) Coordinator
LOCATION: Department of Social Services, Suffolk VA

SALARY:    $47,852 Annually

Under general supervision, assists the Early Childhood Development Commission in all functions, including attending and providing training; coordinating commission events; maintaining referral and resource information; acting as liaison between the commission and the community; marketing, researching, and acquiring funds; and establishing resource centers. Reports to the Assistant Director of Social Services.

  • Coordinates and markets commission-specific events and activities within the community.
  • Attends area meetings regarding early childhood efforts and programs; acts as a resource within the community for information about early childhood.
  • Procures funds and maintains budget for the commission, including research and acquisition of new funds.
  • Informs commission of federal, state, and local regulations impacting childcare business and early intervention programs.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and provides training to parents and childcare workers related to early childhood.
  • Reports progress and completion of all tasks to commission.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Employee must be willing to work disaster related assignments, including emergency shelter duty, in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree in early childhood, education, or closely related field with three (3) to five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Requires a valid driver's license.
